Two headed serpent vase
Speckled clay with hand painted motifs.
Large $125 USD, Small $65 USD
The two headed serpent motif is derived from an antique flat stamp from Guerrero, Mexico, and is associated with the deity Quetzalcoatl. I translated it from Jorge Enciso’s ancient mexican art compilation, which has been used by artisans throughout my country since the 50’s. These stamps were used in ancient times for decorative purposes, applied to textiles and ceramics..
Inspired by the texture of limes. This porcelain vase has an embossed dotted pattern, making it easy to remove the glaze from its surface, revealing the color of porcelain.

Spirals have been used as a decorative motif for centuries. In Mexico, they have represented the movement of the energy of life. These small vases incorporate a spiral microtexture which is revealed through the varied glazes including gold luster accents.
