Bath Research
Recent studies show that daily household bathing and bathroom rituals are simple ways to support personal restoration and manage good health. Immersing yourself in a hot bath, for example, can improve one’s mood, sleep, and even reduce anxiety(1). The bathroom has become a space in the home didicated for personal well-being. During our research we learned that using a soft, warm design language is recommended to enhance sensorial comfort during daily rituals, creating a therapeutic environment in the bathroom. The following trends were identified through market research:
SELF CARE incorporates tactile, feel good and soft forms and surfaces. Natural earth-centric materials and color palette associated with calm environments. Multifunctional, modular, portable and flexible storage for customization. Stackable items for small footprints are favored for small space living.
EXPRESSIVE evokes emotional connections that support mental relaxation through play, which have found to be important elements that promote emotional restoration in the bathroom. Creative expression, drama, and fantasy allow users to reflect personal moods and idenity.
SIMPLIFIED RETRO incorporates references from various historical styles, in a simplified way, putting a contemporary spin on retro aesthetics. With a timeless quality, classic patterns such as houndstooth and geos are found in tiles, textiles and accessories. Rich earthy colors are combined by aged warm metals and dark woods.
